In response to mounting complaints from farmers across the country, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday took swift action by issuing instructions to the federal government to speed up wheat procurement. FBR

 FBR Officers Relieved From Duties The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has undergone a major reshuffle that has resulted in the removal of 12 officers from their posts. These officers also include those holding the posts of Grade 21 and 22 in the FBR classification. Due to this upheaval, his services have been transferred to the administrative pool of FBR. The restructuring of the FBR also included issuing a formal notification announcing the removal of several senior officers from their respective posts. Notably, Grade 22 Officer and Member Customs Accounting Mukram Jah Ansari has been posted to the management pool along with Member IR Policy Afaq Qureshi. Taking an important decision, the Ministry of Interior has given powers to the Islamabad Police to take action against smuggling under the Customs Act. It is relevant to note that Rangers, Coast Guards and Frontier Constabulary (FC) already have these powers. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has Reiterated The Government's Steadfast Resolve to Eradicate The Threat of Smuggling and Establish a Peaceful Nation. The PM said this on Thursday when he paid a visit to slain Customs inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi's home in Abbottabad. The official had been killed in Dera Ismail Khan while fighting smugglers.
